The MIMAROPA Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (MAARRDEC) successfully conducted the 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 on June 17–18, 2026, at the RSU Hostel Function Hall, Romblon State University, Brgy. Liwanag, Odiongan, Romblon. The two-day writeshop gathered faculty members, researchers, extension personnel, and other stakeholders from MAARRDEC Consortium Member Institutions to strengthen their capacity in preparing relevant, responsive, and competitive research proposals aligned with regional and national AANR priorities. Participants gained valuable insights on the Harmonized National AANR R&D Agenda and DOST-PCAARRD’s Industry Strategic Science and Technology Plan from Dr. Jesselle S. Laranas; the MAARRDEC R&D Agenda from Mr. Macario B. Masagca Jr.; competitive proposal development, DOST-GIA Forms 5 and 6, and project budgeting from Engr. Kathleen Faith Jay O. Villarma; and success stories of DOST-PCAARRD-funded projects from Dr. Katherine P. Sanchez-Escalona. The writeshop served as a meaningful venue for learning, collaboration, and the development of research initiatives that respond to the needs and opportunities of the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources sectors in the MIMAROPA Region. MAARRDEC extends its heartfelt appreciation to 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 for its warm hospitality and valuable support as the host institution of the Training Writeshop, to 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗 for providing resource persons, to the Consortium Member Institutions for their active participation, and to the organizers, facilitators, and partners whose collective efforts contributed to the successful conduct of the activity. Isang makasaysayang tagumpay at makabuluhang pagkilala sa mahigit apat na dekadang dedikadong serbisyo publiko ang ipinagdiriwang ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) MIMAROPA matapos pormal na italaga si Roberto R. Abrera, MPA, RFP bilang ganap na Regional Director ng tanggapan ngayong Mayo 18, 2026, sa isinagawang seremonya mula alas-8:00 hanggang alas-9:00 ng umaga. Ang nasabing mahalagang okasyon ay isinagawa sa pangunguna ng Department of Agriculture (DA) sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., bilang bahagi ng patuloy na pagpapalakas ng pamunuan at institusyonal na kakayahan ng sektor ng agrikultura at pangisdaan sa bansa. Personal namang sinaksihan ni BFAR National Director Elizer S. Salilig ang pormal na pagkakahirang kay Director Abrera—isang makabuluhang patunay ng suporta at pagkilala ng pambansang pamunuan sa kanyang kakayahan, dedikasyon, at matatag na pamumuno. Mula sa kanyang panunungkulan bilang Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Regional Director, pinatunayan ni Director Abrera ang kanyang mahusay, matatag, at makataong liderato sa pagsusulong ng mandato ng BFAR para sa pagpapaunlad ng sektor ng pangisdaan at yamang-tubig sa rehiyong MIMAROPA. Ang kanyang opisyal na pagkakahirang bilang ganap na Regional Director ay bunga ng 43 taon ng tapat, mahusay, at makabuluhang paglilingkod sa pamahalaan—isang mahabang paglalakbay na hinubog ng karanasan, integridad, propesyonalismo, at walang humpay na malasakit para sa kapakanan ng mga mangingisda at ng industriya ng pangisdaan sa bansa. Sa loob ng mahigit apat na dekadang paglilingkod, naging katuwang si Director Abrera sa iba’t ibang inisyatiba para sa pagpapalakas ng sektor ng pangisdaan. Sa ilalim ng kanyang pamumuno bilang OIC Regional Director, patuloy na naipatupad ng BFAR MIMAROPA ang mga programang nakatuon sa pagpapalakas ng kabuhayan ng mga mangingisda, pagpapaunlad ng aquaculture at capture fisheries, rehabilitasyon at konserbasyon ng yamang-tubig, at pagsusulong ng food security at sustainable fisheries development sa rehiyon. Ang kanyang pagkakahirang ay hindi lamang pagkilala sa haba ng kanyang karanasan, kundi isang pagpapatunay sa kanyang kakayahang mamuno nang may integridad, pananagutan, at malinaw na bisyon para sa kinabukasan ng sektor ng pangisdaan. Bilang ganap na Regional Director ng BFAR MIMAROPA, inaasahang lalo pang mapaiigting ang pagpapatupad ng mga makabago, inklusibo, at makabuluhang programa at inisyatiba na magbibigay ng mas malawak na oportunidad, mas matatag na suporta, at mas mataas na antas ng kaunlaran para sa mga mangingisda at komunidad ng pangisdaan sa rehiyon. Nagkakaisa ang buong BFAR MIMAROPA sa taos-pusong pagpupugay at pagbati kay Regional Director Roberto R. Abrera, MPA, RFP sa makasaysayang tagumpay na ito. Ang kanyang 43 taon ng dedikasyon at natatanging paglilingkod ay nagsisilbing inspirasyon sa bawat lingkod-bayan—patunay na ang tunay na pamumuno ay hindi lamang nasusukat sa haba ng panahon ng serbisyo, kundi sa lawak ng naiambag na pagbabago, malasakit, at positibong epekto sa buhay ng mamamayan. Mabuhay po kayo, Director Bert! Patuloy na magsisilbing gabay ang inyong karanasan, dedikasyon, at matatag na pamumuno tungo sa mas maunlad, masagana, at napapanatiling sektor ng pangisdaan para sa buong MIMAROPA at sambayanang Pilipino.
